A Picture of Innocence

Disney was magical. I don't know what other word to use. There were a few moments that I did the emotional mom thing and got all teary. Once was when we stood in line for a long time waiting to meet Mickey. It was the coolest set up. You go through his house and when you reach the barn you get your own private shoot with Mickey. Ian had a piece of paper and pen ready for his autograph and you should have seen his little face. It was priceless. So now he has Mickey's autograph on the back of an old coffee stamp card I had in my wallet and a picture to remember it by. Evan was even fairly friendly with the characters. I was surprised because he was so afraid of Chucky Cheese.
The second moment was when we were standing under the fireworks display at Disneyland on a warm summer night. The lady off of Sound of Music, Julia Andrews I think, was telling a story that coordinated with the fireworks. There were shooting stars, and she was talking about wishing upon a shooting star. Ian, in the light of the fireworks, turns to me and whispers, "I want to wish upon a shooting star." Teary Teary. It was precious and innocent. A moment that makes all the hustle and bustle worth it. Needless to say I watched him more than I watched the display. There was something amazing, priceless about seeing him in that light with his little blond head, looking as if he was seeing the world for the first time. Innocence.
