"Ian, don't lick your boogers. They are full of germs and will make you sicker."
"But they are good."
Gag, gag, gag....

I can't wait for winter to be over....
Yes, we are still alive. Fevers, pneumonia, etc. have totally consumed our house. I think everyone is on the mend though. The sun is out, I planted primroses, the windows are all open, and fresh air is coming into my germ-infested house. I think there is light at the end of this tunnel. It has been a very loooong week.

A 3-year-old's Options
Scene 1
"Mommy, I'm hungy."
"You're hungry? Do you want an egg?"
"You need to give me 2 options."
"I need to give you 2 options?"
My thoughts...
You are only 3. Why are you saying words like option? Oh ya, because everyday I tell you that you have 2 options. An apple or a banana. A string cheese or a yogurt. No, you may not have a cookie and a sucker.
Scene 2... a couple of days later...
Tongue completely sticking out as far and as wide as it can possible be. Tongue making contact with the side of the car which is covered with rain, and who knows what else.
"What are you doing? Don't lick the car. It is dirty."
Licks again.
"Evan, don't lick the car."
"I am cleaning it."
Lick....
Uhhhh. I have to say, I really don't think I have ever been tempted to lick a car. Maybe, but I don't think so.

Things that go with green chili stew....
Last year in December, we went to my brother's house in Colorado. We missed the first big storm that virtually shut down the city and made it into town before the next big one. It was white outside, cozy inside, so much laughing, so much reminiscing, being unusually comfortable in my skin, and the smell of green chili stew. Mmmm...
Today I made green chili stew. After it was on the stove for a couple of hours, I started getting emotional and almost started crying. It was weird. I paused for a moment and realized how much smells effect my memories. White Rain hairspray reminds me of my grandma, Nini. The smell of cold on my kids' hair is winter. Rainstorms in the summer that smell different than rainstorms in the winter, reminding me of standing on the porch in Colorado, huge pregnant with Tiffani, watching the lightening. The smell of the ocean when you can't see it because you have been driving for days to get there, and it is dark when you arrive. Green chili stew reminds me of my brother. It made me miss him.
